IGLOO / IGLU
Marija Kavtaradzė, Vytautas Katkus, 20‘, Litauen, 2015

Greta returns to Lithuania to find out her room has been converted into a hair salon. Unsure where to go, she builds an igloo in the courtyard – to the consternation of her neighbours.

THE ENDS OF THE WORLD: FISH MAN
Podlasie Makes Me Happy, 8,58 min, Poland

Diving in a green-grey emptiness of winter river suddenly turns into a journey that seeks the meaning of human existence and looks for beauty in simple, everyday things often which escape our attention. Things that reveal their unusual character when seen from a different perspective.

VNUTRI KVADRATNOGO KRUGA / INSIDE A SQUARE CIRCLE
Valerij Shevchenko, 17‘, Russia, 2011

After a children’s New Year party in the Kremlin, about five thousand children aged between about 6 and 12 emerge from the building and anxious mums, dads, grannies and other relatives, who have been waiting in the cold, need to spot their offspring in the crowd. There is again a heavy police presence, but this time it’s not ‘cosmonauts’  but friendly city police  who joke with  parents while explaining  the procedure through a loudspeaker.

DO SERCA TWEGO / TO THY HEART
Ewa Borysewicz, 10‘, Poland, 2013

He was so handsome, with his jet-black hair, standing by the swing. When he smiled, eyes would stand on end. It was schizophrenic – he was so messed up that she would do whatever he said. She wanted to listen to his sweet-talking, wanted him to talk until the moon was up. Then she stopped pinning her hopes on him. She couldn’t let him off so easily for his betrayal. The animation is a secular litany and a story of affection ending in bitter disappointment, echoing through a tower block estate.

WOODY BEFORE ALLEN
Masha Vasyukova, 13‘30, Russia, 2011

It is an adventurous meditation on past and present, on two former Konigsbergs – a man and a city that no longer use the name: one a Russian city which was renamed Kaliningrad, another a renowned film director who changed his name to Woody Allen. To commemorate the bizarre connection between these two former Konigsbergs, Masha Vasyukova, a native of the city makes it her mission to put up a statue in Kaliningrad in honor of Woody Allen…
