UNITY, WORK, VIGILANCE – MOZAMBIQUE IN THE GDR

At the centre of the exhibition Unity, Work, Vigilance – Mozambique in the GDR are the so-called “Madgermanes” – young Mozambicans who were sent to the former GDR as contract workers – and the descendants of Mozambican contract workers in Germany. Malte Wandel and David-Simon Groß present a collection of portraits, family photographs, letters, documents, and interviews from their long-term project.
